Level of Study for Rotary Peace Fellowship

The Rotary Peace Centers program builds the capability of peace and development professionals to become effective peace catalysts via academic training, practice, and worldwide networking opportunities when candidates are accepted. The programs last 15 to 24 months and include a two- to three-month field study, which participants design themselves.

  • Professional development certificate program

Experienced peace and development professionals from various backgrounds obtain useful skills to advance peace in their local communities and around the world during the one-year blended learning programme. Fellows finish fieldwork assignments and create and implement a social change programme. Working professionals are the target audience for this programme. Following the program’s conclusion, fellows get a post-graduate diploma.

Eligibility

Professionals with work experience in international development, peace and conflict resolution, or both are eligible for the Rotary Peace Fellowship. Moreover, candidates must fulfill the following conditions:

  • Three years of experience in a field related to the master’s programme
  • For the certificate programme, have five years of relevant professional experience and be able to articulate how their peace-promoting strategy fits with Rotary’s goal (Candidates for Makerere University must either be from Africa, have worked in Africa, or work with African communities or initiatives outside the continent.)
  • Have a strong command of the English language (Master’s candidates whose first language is not English must submit scores from English language proficiency exams).
  • Own a bachelor’s degree (Master’s candidates are required to submit an official copy of their transcripts).
  • show leadership qualities.
  • Have a strong commitment to working for peace and intercultural understanding in Africa or working with African communities or initiatives outside of Africa.

Rotary is accepting Rotary Peace Fellowship applications for the 2024-25 academic year. Candidates have until 15 May to submit applications to The Foundation. Rotary endorsers must submit endorsements to The Foundation by 1 July.
